N.C. 28782 Galloping At Fairview One of the traditional "hap penings’' during Block House Race Week is the galloping of race horses at Fairview Farms. These are not our steeplechase horscs-they arc saving their galloping for the Saturday race- but rather, they arc youngsters being trained for the flat tracks by Tony Wallace and his crew. Our race announcer, Jerry Holder, will be on hand to tell you what's going on and we will be serving coffee and dough nuts. If you arc interested in a nice country morning, come out to the Fairview training track Fri day between 8-10:30 (weather permitting). All are invited. —Community Reporter Landrum Teams Win Two Games The Landrum baseball and softball teams both put another notch in their winning column recently. The Landrum boys beat Jonesville 7-1. This year, a photograph is being used-and a most artis tic one it is. Pleased by the results, the club has decided to use photos for at least the next several years and, what belter way than to have a photo contest! What is desired is a photo of the feature race. The Block house Steeplechase (the fourth race). The rules are both flex ible and quite simple: the shot may be either in color or black and white; an action shot during the race or a still in the pad- dock. Artistic merit will rate rather high, but, needless to say, a picture of the winner will carry much weight with the judges. Photos must be submitted during the month of May 1991 and the winning photo will be used on the 1992 poster and program cover with a credit to the photographer. The winner will also receive $100 and a free infield parking space (value of $80) for the 1992 races. The contest is open to amateurs or professionals. One additional rule will be strictly enforced. For obvious safety reasons, no photographers, other than the official photographers, will be allowed on the course or inside (Continued On Back Page)
